A forklift dumps a brand spanking new turbine engine, complete with an engineer in the field who can install it. You have the choice of any vehicle to stuff it into. What would your donor vehicle be?

Kinja'd!!!

I'd go with a Lincoln Continental. Tweak the suspension to deal with the weight variance, then cruise the highways a ridicu-speeds, like a motherfucking boss.

Kinja'd!!!

What would you turbine?

This. Oh, wait that has already been done.

But a '65 Lincoln would work, too.

Everything. Turbine everything. More specifically, Prii and Volts. Hybrids with TURBINES. Not so bland now, huh?

What wouldn't you turbine?

Honestly, obvious answer is Corvette, so I can call it the Turbovette:

Where the hell is it going to fit? In the back?
Interesting choice

Electric drivetrain combined with a turbine? We almost had one of those

Here is how it works.

The entire front is cooling and intake. No space for an engine. Intake ducts run through the passenger side, which is now walled off. The rear is walled off as well, and the engine is mounted in the back. MR xB turbocar.

So its a single seater now? That is stupidly brilliant or brilliantly stupid.

Too bad the production version was going to be a lame-ass 4-pot PoS.

A 'lame' 4 pot hybrid that does over 10000rpm and make 700+hp out of less than 2 litres? right...

Kinja'd!!! Axial > Aaron Short - PROUD OF LEYLAND

Kinja'd!!!1

1. It was 500 HP, not 700.

2. Super high red-line means jack-all in a road car.

3. A forced-induction 4-banger is nothing to get excited over no matter what its numbers are because it's ultimately still the same old thing.

For me, the entire appeal of the CX-75 was the micro-turbines. Once they moved it to a reciprosaur, it was dead to me. Just another hard-to-obtain European uber-car.

I dont know where you got your numbers from because I think I believe jags more..

It would of been as fast as the P1, 918 and the Ferrari while having longer electric range and more torque than all of them and having seen the cx75 in the flesh, I think its best looking of the bunch.

So a P1 is lame ass? a 918 spyder is lame ass? A laFerrari is lame ass? A jaguar with 850hp, 1000nm of torque which has a powertrain developed and built by Williams is lame ass?

This isnt a road car, its a super car; a screaming, wailing engine is something every supercar should have.

The turbocharged 4 pot is very exciting, because that technology is being put into modern jaguars with their new engines, meaning more power and lower taxes.

You want a diesel powered gas turbine vehicle?

Kinja'd!!!

Here you go, Leno's got you fucking covered.

Kinja'd!!!

Or maybe Rover?

Truth of the matter is, gas turbine hybrids could be the future, but they're nowhere ready (10years+) so Jag went back to the drawing board and created a car with 850hp, over 30 miles of electric range and 89 co2g/km. So appreciate it, because this is what the next 10 years has in store for us. The biggest disappointment is the fact they pussied out of a 4 way battle that could of been even more epic than the one in the early 90's/

I got it from here . Your own source backs it up, because it also says "502 bhp at 10,000 rpm." There is 390 HP and ~800 Nm of torque coming from the two electric motors, and that's power which you can't grant to the 4-pot because it's not the 4-pot doing that work. That engine is only producing 184 lb. ft. ( And yes, it's a road car. At the end of the day, these things need to be able to drive you home as comfortably as a normal car after a day spent going around a road course. That's what the F1 was all about and that's what every supercar after the F1 has been about including the P1 as stated by McLaren themselves. If you don't have that you have a track car, not a supercar.

And yes! Compared to the CX-75 prototype, the P1, 918, and LF are all lame-ass. And it's not about the numbers; Joe Schmoe Enthusiast in his garage can make a comfortably streetable 900 HP motor for a fraction of the cost. With the latest crop of supercars, what we're seeing is three companies adopting and scaling up now-proven technologies. They aren't pushing the envelope in any meaningful way because they aren't really taking any risks.

As for the next 10 years, well, I'll be skipping them. I don't do 4-cylinder engines, thank you very much, because I don't have to put up with some silly misguided tax on displacement.

A turbine mail delivery truck. Call me crazy, but hear me out.

It would be a hybrid setup with the turbine running at a constant speed for better fuel economy, turning a genset. The small form factor is well suited to such a small vehicle, and would easily fit under the hood with room to spare. The total power density goes even higher since you can run it on diesel! The electric drivetrain would of course have regenerative braking since they are always starting and stopping. Put a flat battery pack under the flat cargo floor. What say you?

Okay, I get you. However is this Jet Mail Truck going to be used for actual deliveries. or are you going to be hooning car park in it?

Kinja'd!!! KnifeKnut > Simplify, then add beer

For actual deliveries. It takes advantage of the small size and constant running speed that a turbine would have for this application as outlined above.
